| Description |
In this course, students will be introduced to the many concepts that surround the area of criminal justice. Students will learn basics of the criminal justice system and the three system components: law enforcement, judiciary, and corrections. They will review current research about issues of diversity and ethical considerations relating to criminal justice. Students will also examine the aspects of crime that prevails in America, justice that suffices these crimes, and forensic science evidence that convicts these crimes.
Students will be asked to communicate on a regular basis, sharing thoughts and ideas about current events, readings, and other criminal justice beliefs. They will also be responsible for reading, work from the book, and quizzes as well as research and essay type assignments.

Gina Hamm, NBCT - Mrs. Hamm graduated from Virginia Intermont College with a BS in Business Administration with 6-12 Certification as well as a minor in Accounting and Economics. She obtained a MS from Radford University in Criminal Justice. She received national status as a National Board Certified Teacher in Career and Technical Education in 2008.
This is Mrs. Hamm’s twelfth year teaching; schools include Tazewell High School, Northwood High School, and currently E.B. Stanley Middle School. Mrs. Hamm teaches Business and Information Technology. She has also taught for Elite Learning, Governor’s School, and Upward Bound; classes include Survey of Criminal Justice, Forensic Science, and Computer Programming. |
