| Description |
Available in both Fall and Spring semesters.
This course will examine the foundations of our legal system. Topics include criminal law, business law, family law, etc. Research on a multitude of legal professions will also be conducted during this course. Students will study case law that has made an impact on the way we live our lives today.
Students that successfully complete this course will earn a high school credit and 6 hours of college credit for BUS 241 and BUS 242. |

| If 6th edition is not available, it is acceptable to purchase the 7th edition of this text, but students should make sure the instructor is aware of the edition the student will be using since some minor differences may be observed. Regardless of the edition used, students will need access to online materials accompanying this text. |

| Dawn Hutton |
Dawn Hutton is the Elite Learning Program Administrator for SVETN. Prior to taking this role over two years ago, she taught Business and Information Technology courses for twelve years at Northwood High School. Mrs. Hutton received her B.A. degree in Business Administration with 6-12 certification from Virginia Intermont College. In 2005 she graduated from Virginia Tech with a Masters degree in Career and Technical Education. Mrs. Hutton recently received her Educational Specialist degree from Virginia Tech in 2009 with a major in Education Leadership. She also received the distinguished honor of National Board Certified Teacher in 2008. Currently Mrs. Hutton is pursuing her Ed.D. in Career and Technical Education for Virginia Tech and expects to graduate in December 2010. When Dawn isn’t engrossed in her studies or managing Elite Learning, she enjoys spending her time with her two sons. |
