Consider this Opportunity a Teacher’s Dream
  • Stay active in your profession, part time.
  • Teach only one small class of highly motivated students.
  • Teach a subject you love but were seldom assigned.
  • Extend your influence to learners in several communities.
  • Help kids, especially those whose opportunities may be limited.

The work of ITV course developer could begin as early as July, 2008 with training and financial assistance provided by SVETN. Classes would begin either in the Fall 2008 or Spring 2009.

Since 1994 SVETN has coordinated the shared teaching of high school and college subjects by means of interactive TV classrooms linked by fiber optic cables throughout the network’s thirteen county service area. Recently schools have sought to pool their increasingly scarce resources to engage a teacher who no longer wants to work full time but would find professional satisfaction from teaching just one class to students dispersed in 4-5 locations.

In preparing your proposal, please focus on content not typically offered in the regions’ smaller high schools, including especially foreign languages, AP or advanced level classes in any subject, or dual credit offerings. Course developers will be offered the opportunity (but not required) to use a web-based computer application called Moodle to receive homework submissions, facilitate grade records, and encourage small group interactions.
